SUMMER AT ALL SOULS

SUMMER CALENDAR

Because the Trinity forms us as a people designed for relationship, we commit ourselves to generous hospitality by living with one another in tangible expressions of community.

  • From June 5 through September 2, our Senior Pastor, Fr. Bliss will be stepping away for a season of sabbatical rest. Here at All Souls, we have a long standing sabbatical policy in place to offer our clergy intentional time for spiritual renewal, deep rest, and personal reflection. This is not just a gift for the pastor, it’s a gift for the whole church. Sabbaticals allow clergy to return refreshed, rooted, and reoriented for the work ahead. And they offer the congregation a chance to deepen its own rhythms of shared leadership, prayerful attentiveness, and Spirit-led resilience.

SUMMER COMMUNITIES

Summer invites a slower pace, and with it, a chance to be present with one another in simple, meaningful ways. Summer Communities at All Souls are small groups that gather a few times over the summer months, from June through August, for connection, conversation, and shared life.

If you sign up, we’ll place you in a group with 6 to 10 other adults from the congregation. Each group will decide together how and when to gather. You might share a meal, take a walk, meet at a park, or linger on a porch with a glass of something cold. There’s no set curriculum, just an invitation to be together.

Our hope is that each group will gather at least four times between June and the end of August.

Have children? They’re welcome too, if you’d like them to be part of your gatherings. Children will be in addition to the 6 to 10 adults in each group.

Sign up by Sunday, June 1, and we’ll send out group assignments the following week.

SOAKING PRAYER

Our healing prayer team is excited to offer a monthly evening of soaking prayer beginning on May 18th from 6:30-8pm at the church. Everyone is welcome. And you are welcome to come and go as needed during the evenings.

Soaking prayer is a time for coming into the Presence of God in a posture of receiving, allowing Him to minister to you directly in body, mind, and spirit. It involves sitting or lying in stillness, relaxed and inwardly turning toward Jesus. Gently worship music in the background helps to focus on God and experience His presence.

Soaking prayer is a time to rest with Jesus. When you arrive there will be cards available if you’d like to write down any prayer requests. Our prayer team will be present to pray silently for you as you rest. This is a time set apart for you to simply rest in Jesus’ Presence. The purpose of soaking prayer is to give God an opportunity to minister to you directly. God may desire to bring healing on a physical, emotional, or spiritual level. God may desire to simply bring peace and refreshing to you. Essentially it’s a time for you to rest and commune with God, allowing God to accomplish God’s purpose for that time. God knows exactly what you need at any given moment. In this non-stop world we live in, soaking prayer is a beautiful time to release what you’re holding and know Jesus is with you to take it.
