Healing prayer begins with a simple truth: Christian healing is Jesus meeting a person at the place of their deepest need.

Jesus is the healer; we are not. Those who pray are not the source of healing but channels of God’s love and presence. The gift is given to the one who receives prayer, not to the one offering it.

In the Christian tradition, healing is about the well-being of the whole person — body, mind, and spirit. Sometimes emotional or spiritual healing needs to come before physical healing can take root. When we pray for healing, we are praying for wholeness, joining the work Jesus named when he said, “As you go, proclaim the good news: the kingdom of heaven has come near. Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons.” (Matthew 10:7–8)

HEALING PRAYER MINISTRY OFFERINGS

Our Healing Prayer Team is a group of clergy and lay ministers trained in the ministry of healing prayer. Our team meets people with the healing presence of Jesus through attentive listening, gentle prayer, and intentional practices. Their shared calling is to help undo aloneness and create space for God to bring wholeness in body, mind, and spirit. Visit the our people page to learn more.

  • On the first and third Wednesday of each month, All Souls Cville holds a special Healing Eucharist: a quiet, profound service that offers a mid-week respite for worshipers. All are invited to Holy Communion and, if desired, a laying-on of hands and anointing with oil for healing, for  themselves or for others. The liturgy begins at 12:15 and concludes by 12:45. Our sanctuary is open for prayer and quiet reflection 15 minutes before and after the service.

  • A healing prayer appointment is the core way that we offer healing prayer. These appointments take approximately 1 hour, and can be scheduled with members of our healing prayer team for a convenient time. Healing prayer appointments always involve two members of the healing prayer team. You are welcome to request a specific gender of healing prayer minister to be present for your appointment. To schedule a healing prayer appointment, please contact: Christine DeJong (jchristinedejong@gmail.com).

  • On the first Sunday of each month, we offer prayers for healing and wholeness during our regular Sunday service. On these Sundays, anointing with oil is available during communion, and we offer abbreviated opportunities for healing prayer following the service.

  • Our Healing Prayer Team offers a monthly evening of soaking prayer on the third Sunday, from 6:30–8 pm at the church. Everyone is welcome, and you’re free to come and go as needed.

Soaking prayer is simply resting in the presence of Jesus. You can sit or lie down in quiet stillness while gentle worship music plays. Our prayer team will pray silently for you, and you’re welcome to write down any specific requests when you arrive.

This space is set apart for you to rest, release what you’re carrying, and allow God to meet you — bringing peace, refreshment, or healing in whatever way you most need. Check the Events page for upcoming dates.

  • Our Healing Prayer Ministry offers occasional classes on topics of interest. Check our calendar for information on upcoming classes.
