Weekly Reader

The Heart of Christian Spirituality

The Weekly Reader is a simple way to stay rooted in the shared prayer and Scripture of the Church between Sundays.

Each week we send the Daily Office readings that many Christians across the world pray each day. These readings follow a two-year cycle that gradually immerses us in the Psalms and the story of Scripture. In doing so, they help bridge the space between Sunday gatherings and the ordinary rhythms of the week.

The Daily Office has been at the heart of Christian spirituality for centuries. Through Morning and Evening Prayer, the Church pauses each day to praise God, listen to Scripture, and pray for the needs of the world. Even when we pray these prayers alone, we join the prayer of the whole Body of Christ.

The Weekly Reader simply gathers those readings in one place so you can easily follow along in your own prayer.

Our hope is that these shared prayers and Scriptures will become a steady companion in your life with God, shaping your imagination, deepening your attentiveness to Christ, and helping us grow together into the life we share in him.

A Simple Daily Office Prayer Rhythm

Become aware of God’s presence.

And our mouth shall proclaim your praise.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen.

You may read one or more of the appointed passages.

Silent Reflection

Take a few moments to sit with what you have read.

Prayers for Others

Offer your prayers for the Church, the world, those in need, and those entrusted to your care.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.

And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.

Closing Blessing

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
and the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
be with us all evermore. Amen.
