We practice shalom by serving children, walking with the poor, working for justice, and seeking the flourishing of our community for the sake of the world.

To participate in shalom is, in large measure, to do what Jesus told us to do: to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. In addition to the partnering with the following ministries, we, as a community, we have committed to give away more than 10% of our tithes each year, with a substantial portion given to needs in the Charlottesville area. As a church, we pray that generosity will shape the whole of our life

Local Partners

  • Demonstrating God’s love through holistic community development in the Prospect neighborhood.

  • Connects vulnerable children and families with caring neighbors in their own community. Mobilizes neighbor-to-neighbor connection that can lead to on-going supportive relationships.

  • Bringing people together to build and rebuild homes and communities while catalyzing new pathways to safe, decent, affordable housing.

  • A faith-based justice ministry coalition of more than two dozen local congregations with a proven track record of effecting positive change for the poor and marginalized in the Charlottesville area.

  • A grassroots organization that equips newcomers (refugees and SIVs) with the skills and networks to thrive in Charlottesville.

  • An organizations that connects the calling of local churches to the struggles of the community in a way that is collaborative and holistic.

  • An organization that brings together creators and the local community to spark connection, inquiry, and social transformation through low cost ways to connect to the arts.

  • A counseling practice that provides hope and healing in the struggles of being human along with a commitment to low-cost services for those who need it.

  • A grassroots organization that works with 80 local congregations and community groups and 3,000 volunteers to provide shelter and related services to the homeless.

  • Supporting Christians and seekers in academia, moving from lecture halls into rich conversations about integrating the practices of theology into everyday life.

Global Partners

  • A family-based orphan care and child-sponsorship program in Kenya, placing vulnerable children into loving local Christian families rather than large institutions.

  • Provides spiritual hope and Biblical training; education opportunities including scholarships and a school; feeding programs; business training and opportunities; counseling; youth mentoring; and basic relief including clothing, food and shelter.

  • Seeking to rescue Ethiopian's children at risk, ensuring they remain in or return to a loving family.
